Thesis
When you think of campaigning, you expect candidates to bash
each other. In the election Bush vs. Dukakis, Bush uses family morals and
values through images opinions, and sentimental appeals to manipulate citizens
to vote for him, which is a scandalous strategy, which is why I would not vote
for him.
Outline
·
In one of his campaign ads, he talks about how
important family is throughout the entire ad.
·
His wife states that he doesn’t have any
constituency. This can cause people to believe he has little or no knowledge on
what it means to run fro president.
·
When running for president, you should have an
idea and make that idea into a reality.
·
Also, you should be a person who truly loves
your country, and want to provide the best for your country. Bush wants to just
have a title of authority. This can develop issues throughout the country.
·
They repeat the word “family” over and over to
brainwash viewers to believe family and togetherness is the key to a better
nation.
·
Also, Bush is showing the public his way of a
perfect family.
·
He is basically saying, people should vote for
him and live his lifestyle.
·
The campaign ad does not give reason on why he
should be president or what he can contribute to the country. He does not
target his opponent because he wants citizens to believe is a humble person.
·
He should not be considered for president
because based on his campaign; he does not have anything to contribute to
America and the improvement for our country.
·
Through this ad, he is telling viewers his
opponent, doesn’t have morals and values.

Opinions are
judgments from ones point of view. This ad is very opinionated because there
are no facts presented throughout the ad. In this ad, his wife states that
people feel as though he is not worthy of running for president because he has
no constituency. Her response was, he had family and friends. Family and
friends are necessities for a support-based system. Meaning, you need people to
motivate you and believe in what you are doing.
When campaigning for presidency, you should build a foundation of facts
around your campaign. Not one time in this ad, did his wife or the speaker
state a fact about Bush. Family is a portion of success and happiness. You also
need constituency when running for president. You have to not only voice your
plan for a better nation, but also show citizens you have the power and
knowledge as a strong human being to develop a stronger nation. The speaker also says “ No on in this century
is better prepared…” When you make statements like that, you should provide
facts to compliment your statement. When making that statement, the speaker
should have thought about citizens who were unfamiliar with Bush and his
doings. How do these citizens know he is the best candidate for president?
